Mara Brock Akil is a dynamic TV writer and producer. She's currently one of the few African-American women making a mark on the television industry. She's had several hit shows including South Central, which originally aired on Fox, UPN's Moesha, as well as two shows for The CW network, Girlfriends and The Game. Girlfriends was a hit show that aired for eight years, but it was abruptly canceled and its last episode aired in February 2008 without a series finale. Unfortunately, Mara's newest show, The Game, is on the verge of cancellation if the CW doesn't decide to increase the half-hour show to one-hour.The Game quickly became one of my favorite shows. I stayed committed as a fan even when it was moved from Sunday night to Monday and finally to the Friday evening time-slot. The Game includes a number of talented actors such as Tia Mowry of Sister, Sister fame and Wendy Raquel Robinson from The Steve Harvey Show. The show has found a committed audience and many are petitioning The CW network to ensure it isn't cancelled. A final decision about its future will be made on May 21.
Mara, along with cast members, and a PR representative have joined forces to save the show. A Facebook Fan Page with almost 100,000 members, a Twitter page with an additional 100,000 followers and a campaign on The CW's website, "One Million For the Game" are currently underway.
I think the network should give the fans what they want. The season finale was a success and many watched in fear that it may be the last show of the series. Fans have been known to make noise if they're favorite show is in jeopardy of being canceled. Recently, through the support of social media, NBC decided to renew Chuck for another season. This proves that saving The Game can certainly be done. Mara Brock Akil is standing her ground and refusing to take no for an answer. These are ultimate attributes of a woman making moves. I'm wishing Mara the best of luck as she awaits the outcome regarding The Game.

This site is brilliant! Thank-you Tiffany for creating it. I also LOVE Mara Brock Akil. I've tuned in to everything she's worked on. I've ordered Girlfriends on DVD and I record EVERY epidsode of The Game. Kinda in love with Derwin ,LOL!
Arlice,
Thanks for your positive feedback on Women Making Moves! I enjoy highlighting women doing positive things. We're in luck, BET picked up the The Game and the cast is currently taping in Atlanta.
I was skeptical of "The Game"at first(and when I say skeptical I mean that) , but as I watched more and more I thought the game showed comedic variety and dramatic depth. The drama that was portrayed on the show was both entertaining and ht a chord with me. I am so glad BET picked it up in syndication or I would have never been able to appreciate it for what great writing, production, and entertainment it is. This show deserves to be on air and I hope it returns.
P.S. Music (soundtrack to my life) was part of the key to me feeling the show so much. I hope that can continue.
Oh, apparently I was late as to my news of The Game being picked up for real. You all know those gossip blogs keep me skeptical. Yay!! I will be one of the first in line for the new episodes.
I am horrorified that the television show "The Game " was cancelled. For once there was an entertaining real show about progressive blacks. There are so few shows where blacks are featured from a realistic perspective. Why would this show with a great following and a fresh take on the African American experience that could appeal to the masses be cancelled in favor of "melrose Place" repeat? How did this happen? What can be done?
